Sandoz Canada amongst Top Employers in Montreal
- Sandoz Canada has been selected as one of Montreal’s Top Employers for 2018.
- This company engages in remarkable initiatives to foster a culture of high energy and agility, as well as offering competitive working conditions.
Boucherville, Quebec, February 6, 2018 – Sandoz, a global leader in generic and biosimilar medicines and the fastest growing healthcare company in Canada, has been selected as one of Montreal’s Top Employers for 2018. In a competition organized by Mediacorp Canada, Sandoz Canada was recognized for its competitive benefits, professional development programs, and internal mobility.
“We are extremely proud to be named one of the best employers in the Greater Montreal area. This reflects our commitment to be an employer of choice to attract and retain the best talent,” says Michel Robidoux, President and General Manager, Sandoz Canada. “Our goal is to create an energetic, motivating and enjoyable work environment so that our people can stay agile and committed to playing a leading role in driving access to medicine to improve and extend people’s lives.”
The annual Mediacorp contest assesses hundreds of companies in Montreal and across Canada based on various criteria related to working environment and community engagement. Employers are compared to other organizations in the same field to determine which ones offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.
Sandoz Canada promotes the well-being and health of employees with such offerings as a state-of-the-art gym open 24/7, complete with free classes and kinesiologists, a permanent onsite nurse, and ergonomic evaluations. It also ensures that employees have the resources and training tools they need, and adopt good work habits, to be versatile and productive.
“We offer each new employee a minimum of one-and-a-half days of training to explain what Sandoz Canada is all about, how we increase patient access to high-quality medicines, and our positive impact on the Canadian healthcare system,” notes M. Robidoux. “We offer management training, language and technical courses in addition to a variety of online training programs. Professional career development is also emphasized, and opportunities are offered through the Novartis network, which employs more than 120,000 employees worldwide. We have also put together an Enjoyment at Work Committee, which organizes various initiative to increase employee well-being at Sandoz Canada.”
If that wasn’t enough, Sandoz Canada even offers a “Valet Express” service that allows employees to have their cars repaired while they are at work. “You just leave your keys at reception and it will be taken care of by the end of the day,” says Angela Nguyen, Scientific Director, Sales and Marketing, who used the service this winter to have snow tires installed. “This kind of benefit shows that the company understands and cares about our needs and the balance between work and family.”
Benefits at Sandoz Canada include a pension plan, RRSP contributions, retirement planning workshops, generous vacation programs and a variety of alternative work arrangements, including flexible hours, shortened and compressed work weeks and telecommuting.
At Sandoz Canada, employee involvement in the community is also paramount. Employees are encouraged to spend one paid day per year volunteering in the community, and the company actively supports employee fundraising efforts for United Way of the Greater Montreal area and Ride for Life to support the fight against cancer.
Mr. Robidoux says he’s confident being recognized as one of the top employers in Montreal will help strengthen the leadership position of Sandoz Canada and help it recruit the employee talent it needs to reach its growth targets.
