Canadian Initiatives
As a division of the Novartis Group, Sandoz Canada is committed to playing a key role in achieving global healthcare goals that include improving access to high-quality medicines, especially for those most in need, promoting better access to medical information, and helping to build healthcare capacity.
Community Strong COVID-19 intervention program
As a key player in the Canadian healthcare system, Sandoz Canada has worked hard since the beginning of the COVID-19 health crisis to ensure that Canadian healthcare providers and patients receive the Sandoz medicines they need. But we have also taken our action further.
As privileged individuals, we are committed to helping the hardest hit Canadians, especially people in our own communities, who lack food, shelter or other essential services during the pandemic. This is the mission of the Community Strong program, which we launched with Novartis Canada.
As part of this exceptional program, Novartis and Sandoz Canada, with the contribution of their employees, provided donations and grants totaling $500,000 to Canadian patient groups with goals related to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as two community groups: United Way of Canada and Food Banks Canada.
This would not have been possible without the support of the employees of all Novartis divisions, whose generous contributions were matched by the company. This initiative alone generated $50,000 for the United Way of Canada and Food Banks Canada.
Together, we are proud to be able to make a difference in people’s lives.
United Way/Centraide
Sandoz Canada and its employees are active supporters of United Way/Centraide, whose volunteer-based autonomous organizations across Canada provide a wide variety of support services for less fortunate members of our society (http://www.centraide-mtl.org/en), including many that are aligned with our corporate responsibility commitment. United Way/Centraide is primarily focused on poverty, homelessness, and families or individuals in crisis or need. Every year, our employees take part in the United Way/Centraide fundraising campaign through fun activities, contests and various initiatives, and have raised over $170,000 to support our local communities since 2014. Sandoz Canada is a winner of a “Prix Solidaires – First campaign” award from Centraide of Greater Montreal in recognition of our employees’ generosity and the exemplary teamwork carried out by the members of our volunteer campaign committee.
Health Partners International of Canada
Sandoz Canada is a proud financial supporter of Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC), an organization dedicated to increasing access to medicines and improved healthcare in vulnerable communities (http://www.hpicanada.ca). HPIC’s work includes the supply of emergency medical kits, enhancing local supply chains and pharmaceutical management practices, and capacity building, all of which are well aligned with our own vision of being a leader in the healthcare sector.
Community Partnership Day 2019

Ride for Life
Since 2013, Sandoz Canada employees have participated in the Novartis Canada Ride For Life! a 600-kilometre, 3½- day bicycle race from Toronto to Montreal that raises funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Together with their counterparts at Novartis, employees have raised more than $1 million as of now in support of brave people who are battling breast cancer. Many of our employees also participate in the annual Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure in Montreal in support of cancer research and give generously to the cause. Sandoz Canada and Novartis have a booth at the event to underscore the solidarity and engagement of their employees, promote healthy lifestyles, heighten the two companies’ visibility as leaders in the healthcare sector, and underscore their commitment to building healthcare capacity.
