Agreement in principle
June 10, 2016
We wish to inform you that the negotiation process between Sandoz Canada and its unionized employees is almost complete. In fact, the parties reached an agreement in principle last night which will be recommended and voted on tomorrow morning, on June 11, at the General Assembly scheduled at 8:30 a.m. We will keep you informed as soon as we know the outcome of the vote.
Sandoz Labour Negotiations
Following the strike on June 7, Sandoz Canada will not resume production until an agreement is reached on a new collective agreement. This is because any further impromptu work disruptions could pose unacceptable quality, security and compliance risks regarding the complex injectable medicines being produced at the facility. Sandoz Canada remains open to meeting with union representatives at any time and hopes that a negotiated settlement that works for all parties concerned is reached as soon as possible to allow for the unionized employees to return to work.
Following continued negotiations, Sandoz Canada submitted a contract offer to union representatives on June 2nd. Based on the information we have, the union assembly to vote on the latest contract offer from Sandoz is scheduled for June 11th at 8:30 a.m.
We are making every effort to reach a solution that is right for our employees, is sustainable for our business, and ensures that patients have continued access to important medicines.
We do not anticipate an impact on our customers since our inventory is sufficient to respond to their needs. As mentioned yesterday, to ensure a fair distribution, we have decided to put in place a proactive allocation system based on the historical orders of our customers. This temporary allocation system will help us preserve and manage the right inventory level and respond to patient/customer needs.
Sandoz Canada was a pioneer in transparency with the launch of its national supply status report a few years ago on the availability of injectable medicines. This report quickly became a standard for the industry and Canada’s health system decision makers.
With the objective of bringing transparency to a higher level and improving access to information, Sandoz Canada launched Sandoz Pro, a multiplatform application that allows users with a single click to view information on the availability of injectable medicines
With this tool, drug availability is accessible not only via the web (sandozpro.sandoz.ca), but also on tablets and smartphones.
Sandoz Pro is easy to use. Its search engine offers quick access to information on the availability of injectable medicines by entering the product name or code.
Availability of Sandoz Canada Injectable Products
Tuesday,June 7th 2016
Sandoz Canada would like to inform you that a proactive allocation system has been temporarily set up to ensure the fair distribution of injectable drugs during negotiations with unionized employees from its manufacturing facilities. The amounts allocated are based on customers’ historical demand and aim to meet patients’ needs while maintaining a good level of inventory for all.
We do not anticipate any impact on our customers since our inventory is sufficient to respond to their needs. We would also point out that more than 80% of Sandoz Canada injectable products are allocated at more than 100% of their current historical average.
We are making every effort to resume discussions with the union as soon as possible in order to reach a solution that is right for our employees, is sustainable for our business, and ensures patients have continued access to important medicines.
Be assured that patients remain our main focus and that we intend to maintain sufficient inventory levels to respond to patients’ and customers’ needs. If you wish to have additional information on the availability of Sandoz Canada injectable products, we invite you to consult the Sandoz Pro multiplatform app (sandozpro.sandoz.ca).
If you have questions or need your allocated quantities to be revised, please communicate with your business representative or Sandoz Canada Customer Service (1-800- 361-3062, firstname.lastname@example.org).
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
